After working on a project for a while, going through various changes, link building exercises, and HTML restructuring, you can often lose focus on the more basic SEO Practices. It can always prove to be a good idea after working on a project for a while to take a fresh look at your site from a more basic perspective. Go through the site as if you have never seen it before, and start with the basics. Inevitably something gets overlooked and the smallest changes can have long term implications. If more than one search engine optimizer is working on a project, or programmers are not working as closely with each other as they should with each other, work is easily overwritten.
Go through the SEO Basics checklist.
- Basic SEO
- Linking Basics
- Building Links
- Structure Content
- Optimize Web Content
- Proper Outbound Linking
- Create Landing Pages
After going through these lists you are bound to find something you overlooked or something that was mistakenly changed allong the way. It is always a good idea to take a step back and start from scratch to double check your work!
